Monday 11th November 2019:
Player Announcement - Brown comes home!

We are proud to announce the signature of former NZ age group defender Cory Brown.

Brown was born and bred in Nelson and played locally for Nelson Suburbs before leaving to pursue his football career that has taken him to Wellington with Ole, the US with Xavier University, to then being selected in the MLS Superdraft by Vancouver Whitecaps

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say "Massive signing for us and I can't wait to get him on the pitch. Cory has achieved a lot over the last few years and he has jumped at the chance to come back and represent his region in front of family and friends before he goes back to the US next year"

Player Announcement - Varela arrives!

The club is proud to announce the signature of experienced central midfielder Alexis Varela for the upcoming ISPS Handa Premiership.

Varela has over 75 National League games to his name and is a crafty central midfield general. Varela could be well known to Tasman fans as the player who scored the equalizer in the dramatic 4-4 draw with Hamilton Wanderers at Saxton Field couple of seasons ago.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, "I am very happy to get Alexis signed. He is a quality player and character who adds to our midfield options. He has huge National League experience that will benefit us greatly as we prepare for the challenges ahead".

Player Announcement - Welcome Hashim Noorzai!

The club is proud to announce the signing of Hashim Noorzai for the upcoming ISPS Handa Premiership.

Hashim is a tireless defensive midfielder who will provide stability and a calming influence at the base of the Tasman midfield.

Director of Football had this to say, "Hashim has come to Nelson on trial and impressed me hugely. He is good footballer, and a good character. He will work incredibly hard for the club and is a strong ball winner in midfield. I look forward to seeing him progress".

Friday 11th October 2019:
Player Announcement - Bienvenidos Facundo Barbero!

We are excited to announce the arrival of Argentinian forward Facundo Barbero for the ISPS Handa Premiership.

Barbero is an experienced National League striker, with over 30 matches for Hawkes Bay United to his name and 9 goals in the 2016-17 campaign.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom was delighted with his signature, "Facundo has good National League experience and is a proven goal scorer at this level. I first came across Facundo through my time at the Wellington Phoenix when he was playing in the region. He is a hard working striker and a good character who is keen to get back into the National League and show what he can do again".

Wednesday 9th October 2019:
Player Announcement - Jesse Randall signs up!

The club is excited to announce the signature of NZ Under 17 star Jesse Randall.

The lightning quick striker scored against China in the Panda Cup earlier this year to book his spot on the plane to the World Cup.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, "Jesse is regarded as one of the top attacking talents in the country. He is a fantastic signing and he will be showcasing his talents in Brazil at the Under 17 World Cup before joining us. Not only do we have some very talented players in the current youth setup but we are also attracting some of the best talent in NZ and as a club we will give all these players the opportunity to showcase their talent on the national league stage. Jesse is a fantastic young kiwi talent adding to our stable of quality frontmen".

Monday 7th October 2019:
Player Announcement - Jean-Phillipe Saiko joins Tasman!

The club is excited to announce the signature of New Caledonian International striker Jean-Philippe Saiko for the upcoming ISPS Handa Premiership.

Saiko is a lightning quick forward who is looking to make a big impression in New Zealand. He has 11 goals in 8 international appearances and has played club football in France and New Caledonia, most recently with with top Oceania outfit AS Magenta.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, "I am over the moon to add Jean-Philippe to the squad. He is a hugely experienced and talented footballer and we are excited to get him. Along with Jama, we now have two very talented goal machine's in the squad which is very exciting".

Wednesday 2nd October 2019:
Player Announcement - Welcome Pierce!

We are excited to announce the addition of goalkeeper Pierce Clark to the squad for the ISPS Handa Premiership.

The 21 year old Queenslander joins the club from Dandenong Thunder in the Victorian NPL and prior to that spent time with Cairns FC, Bentleigh Greens, and the Newcastle Jets.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, “Pierce has spent time in an A-League environment with the Newcastle Jets and more recently with Dandenong Thunder in the Victorian NPL. He is a classy young keeper and is going to make a huge impact for us, as he aims to get back to the professional game”.

Monday 30th September 2019:
Player Announcement - Cory Vickers vows to lead!

The club is excited to announce the arrival of Cory Vickers from the Oakville Blue Devils in Ontario, Canada.

Vickers is a commanding centre-back who will provide leadership to the back four.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, "I am delighted to get Cory into the region. He is a very good defender and an experienced leader. His previous coaches speak very highly of him and he is fit and ready to impress".

Saturday 28th September 2019:

Player Announcement - Larsen on board!

The club is proud to announce the return of Corey Larsen for the upcoming ISPS Handa Premiership.

Larsen debuted in the 2018-19 season and went on to feature in every game and established himself in the National League with a string of consistent performances at right back.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, " Corey is a very talented footballer and can play multiple positions. He was superb at right-back last year, but has attacking strengths which I am keen to use more this year. He is a good lad to have around and I look forward to working with him this summer".

Friday 27th September 2019:
Player Announcement - Stanton Returns!

The club is proud to announce the return of Marlborough born and bred goalkeeper Nick Stanton for the upcoming ISPS Handa Premiership.

Last season Stanton was a standout performer when called upon and proved himself at National League level with a man of the match performance against Eastern Suburbs away from home.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, "I am very pleased Nick accepted our offer to return. He is a good character and a very promising young local goalkeeper. I have watched games from last season and he was superb. This is another chance for him to develop further and play for the region at this level".

Wednesday 25th September 2019:
Player Announcement - Max Winterton sign on!

We are proud to announce the return of Max Winterton for the ISPS Handa Premiership Campaign.

Max made this National League debut in 2018-19 season and is a creative and hard working midfielder, who came through youth football in Nelson with Nelson College and Nelson Suburbs.

Director of Football had this to say, "I've watched Max play and he has impressed me. He is a very tidy midfielder with skills to create and help us going forward. He did well last year in his first season and I look forward to watching and helping him develop again this season."

Monday 23rd September 2019:
Player Announcement - Matt Tod-Smith is back at Tasman United!

We are excited to announce the return of talented midfielder Matt Tod-Smith for the ISPS Handa Premiership.

Tod-Smith has been a Tasman United squad member since the club's inception and could be the first player to hit 50 appearances for the club. A hugely talented attacking midfielder who is born and bred in Nelson, and played at Nelson College and Nelson Suburbs before leaving for University.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, "I am absolutely delighted that Matt has committed to us again this summer. He is a massive talent and another Nelson player who has come through the pathway. It can be a big year for him at this level."

Saturday 21st September 2019:
Player Announcement - Billy Scott come home!

We are excited to announce the addition of Billy Scott to the squad for the ISPS Handa Premiership.

Scott is born and bred in Nelson and played for Richmond Athletic and Nelson Suburbs before moving to Wellington. He went onto play National League for Hawkes Bay and then Team Wellington winning two national league titles and playing in the Oceania Champions League.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, "Billy showed his interest straight away in playing this summer and has made enormous sacrifices in order to make himself available to the club. He is a hugely experienced defender, a leader, and I am delighted to bring another Nelson boy home to play for the region in front of family and friends."

Friday 20th September 2019:
Player Announcement - Labu Pan signs for TU!

We are proud to announce the addition of young FC Nelson utility Labu Pan to the squad for the upcoming ISPS Handa Premiership.

Labu was a member of the squad for the first two Tasman United campaign's and makes a welcome return to the National League fold after recently turning out for Nelson Suburbs in the MPL and FC Nelson respectively.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom was delighted with his decision to return. "Labu is a fantastic young player and has huge potential. I am very happy he has made the decision to make himself available again for summer football and I can't wait to work with him. He has played locally here for a number of years and deserves a platform on the National stage again."

Player Announcement - Muir is back!

We are proud to announce the signing of young local midfielder Rick Muir for the upcoming ISPS Handa Premiership campaign.

Rick was a former mainstay of the Nelson College First XI and the Tasman United Youth League captain last season.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say, "I was immediately impressed by Rick through footage and talking to him. He is a quality young midfielder who wants to play National League football for Tasman. This is a fantastic example of the pathway available for committed youngsters coming through Nelson Football, into the Youth team, and then into the Senior team."

Monday 16th September 2019:
Player Announcement - Nelson Suburbs defender Hamish Cadigan signs for Tasman United.
We are excited to announce the addition of Nelson Suburbs defender Hamish Cadigan to the squad for the upcoming ISPS Handa Premiership.
Fresh from winning the SFL with Nelson Suburbs and returning from Franklin Pierce University where he played and started in all but one of his team’s 68 games over the course of his four seasons, providing a consistent presence in the back 4 and leadership qualities as a co-captain from his sophomore year onwards.
Director of Football Jess Ibrom had this to say "I am delighted to add Hamish to the squad. He is a quality player and a quality person. I look forward to working with him this summer"

Player Announcement - Jama Boss signs for Tasman United!
We are excited to announce the capture of Manukau United forward Jama Boss!

Boss recently won the Golden Boot (16 Northern Premier League Goals), Player of the Year, Player's Player of the Year, and Supporters Player of the Year for Manukau United.

Director of Football Jess Ibrom was delighted with the appointments, "I am absolutely delighted with this group of support staff for the upcoming season. It has a huge Nelson flavour with a lot of quality and football knowledge attached. This group is passionate about Tasman United and Nelson Football and will contribute massively. I am excited to get started."

Friday 26th July 2019:

​Nelson Bays Football have announced the appointment of Jess Ibrom as the new Director of Football for the region.
Ibrom has an extensive career developing academies and has coached at International level with the Cook Islands. He carries A licence(s) and will be moving to Nelson asap.
 
General Manager Nic Foster, "We are very excited to have someone with the background and experience coming to work with our players in Nelson. His knowledge and expertise around the academy space and his International experience make him a perfect fit for the Tasman role.”
Ibrom was employed as High performance Coach with the Asia Pacific Football Academy in association with Chelsea FC and was heavily involved with the inception of the Phoenix Academy.

Foster, "Our academy space will now deliver one of the best programs in the country and we think the opportunity for young Nelson/Tasman footballers is immense. Our stakeholders are keen to see more locals playing National league and now we have the right person to deliver a program that makes this dream possible.”
There were 17 candidates from around NZ and overseas and the process was overseen by the High Performance advisory group consisting of Ben Sigmund and Gavin Larsen.

Foster, "Having Gavin and Ben involved in recruitment was invaluable. Those two gentlemen understand what it takes to compete at the highest level and they crucially understand high performance. I am very pleased with the robust process and that we have the right man for the job.”
 
Ibrom will start the recruitment phase for National League immediately with the view to get a competitive team ready for the summer ISPS HANDA National League season.

​NBF General Manager Nic Foster is happy to report the Director of Football applications are rolling in, ahead of the closing date this week.

With a new era to start at NBF and Tasman United, with the appointment of the new role to spearhead the Tasman United Academy and also take the reins of the Tasman United Senior Team, Foster was upbeat. “It’s a position and model that NBF believes is the right direction and its an exciting time. We look forward to securing a top placement and then ramping up the Academy to match the best in the country along with improving our two Tasman United National League teams. By having somebody based in the region overseeing the two divisions, we believe this will create the ideal model and environment to succeed."

​Foster confirmed the Tasman United National Youth League Head Coach Position will be advertised in the coming weeks.
